Level 3 Award in Education & Training - AET/PTLLS
At Bright Learning Centre, we deliver a variety of Teacher training courses across our branches. These courses can also be completed via online or distance learning while sitting at home at your own convenience.
The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a teaching qualification. Formerly known as PTLLS. It has been designed for individuals who want to work in the further education sector. Achieving this award will provide sufficient evidence that the learner has acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare, plan, deliver and evaluate basic teaching and learning sessions, in a variety of teaching or teaching contexts.
The Level 3 award in Education and training is a great way to get into teaching. It is a suitable qualification for all teachers willing to work in the further education sector, whether it is adult and community learning, work-based learning, endpoint assessment such as apprenticeship teaching or other parts of learning and skills sector. This qualification enables you to plan lessons, deliver engaging lessons, motivate learners and assess work by following awarding body’s requirements
The Award is suitable for:
- Individuals who want to become Teachers/Trainers/Tutors in Adult, Community or Further Education Sector.

What will I Learn:There are three modules to achieve to complete the Level 3 Award in Education and training which are as following:
- Unit 1 – The roles and responsibilities of a teacher
- Unit 2 – Importance of Inclusive teaching that meets the needs of individuals
- Unit 3 – Understand different methods of assessment
How long is the course?
How can I complete this course at Bright Learning Centre?At Bright Learning centre, this course is delivered by our qualified and experienced tutors. We deliver this course to meet individual’s needs, therefore you can complete this course by the following methods:
• Classroom-Based Learning
• Distance-based Learning/Online Learning
Classroom-Based Course:We offer classroom based Level 3 Award in Education and training in Leicester. Thiscourse is made up of three 3 modules, therefore, you will need to attend the course for 3 consecutive days.
When completing our classroom based PTLLS course in Leicester, you will complete practical assessment of 15 minutes Micro-teach session. During the micro-teach, you will be observed by your Tutor and other learners on the course. You need to prepare a session plan, PowerPoint presentation, hand-outs for your Micro-teaching session.
The Classroom-based training will include sessions by a qualified trainer, lesson planning, group discussions, assessment planning and inclusive teaching techniques. After the classroom learning, learners will have to submit their portfolio within the limited time given. Templates will be provided to make the learning journey easier. Once you submit the portfolio, we will process the assessment and certification.
Distance/Online Learning Course:
The distance learning course is completed at your own pace with a Tutor's Support & Guidance. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. We will provide you with all the necessary material by online learning portal once you book the course with us. Once you book this course, you will be given 12 weeks to complete the assignments and submit the portfolio.However, if you finish early you will receive your certificate early. You also need to submit 15 minutes Micro-teach session by recorded video or via online Zoom meeting. Your Micro teach session will be observed by your Tutor and other learners on the course. You need to prepare a session plan, PowerPoint presentation, hand-outs for your Micro-teaching session.
Entry Requirements:There is no formal requirement for this course as long as the candidate has basic functional skills (Numeracy, Literacy and ICT). You will also have to provide us with your Photo Identification such as Passport or Full UK driving Licence and Proof of Address of the last 3 months to join online or classroom based teacher training Leicester.
Assessment:There is no formal examination for this course but at the end of the course, you will have to submit the portfolio. The course is assessed by your portfolio and your ability to deliver the Micro-teaching session. Learners will be competing for the following:
• Three written assignments
• One micro-teaching session – If you have enrolled to complete classroom based PTLLS course in Leicester, then you will deliver this session in a classroom setup with group of other learners or it can be submitted as recorded video if you are completing the course online or via distance learning.
What certificate am I going to receive?:
Once you complete the qualification successfully then you will be awarded a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and training certificate.
What careers can I get with this qualification?
Learners who have achieved the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and Training can progress to the Pearson BTEC Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. Besides, you could begin to work as a Tutor/Trainer/Teaching Assistant. The average salary you can earn in the UK is between £15000 - £18000per annum.
