The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a teaching qualification. Formerly known as PTLLS. It has been designed for individuals who want to work in the further education sector. What will I Learn?

There are three modules to achieve to complete the Level 3 Award in Education and training which are as following:

  • Unit 1 – The roles and responsibilities of a teacher
  • Unit 2 – Importance of Inclusive teaching that meets the needs of individuals
  • Unit 3 – Understand different methods of assessment
This qualification aims to give learners the confidence and knowledge to teach. By the end of the course, learners will understand different teaching methods, assessment methods and the importance of inclusive teaching methods. Learners enrolled on this course will have to deliver a 15-minute micro-teach session, which will improve their practical teaching skills and they will gain valuable feedback from their teacher and peers.

Classroom-Based Course:

We offer classroom based Level 3 Award in Education and training in Leicester. This course is made up of three 3 modules, therefore, you will need to attend the course for 3 consecutive days.

When completing our classroom based PTLLS course in Leicester, you will complete practical assessment of 15 minutes Micro-teach session. During the micro-teach, you will be observed by your Tutor and other learners on the course. You need to prepare a session plan, PowerPoint presentation, hand-outs for your Micro-teaching session.

The Classroom-based training will include sessions by a qualified trainer, lesson planning, group discussions, assessment planning and inclusive teaching techniques. After the classroom learning, learners will have to submit their portfolio within the limited time given. Templates will be provided to make the learning journey easier. Once you submit the portfolio, we will process the assessment and certification.

Distance/Online Learning Course:

The distance learning course is completed at your own pace with a Tutor's Support & Guidance. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. We will provide you with all the necessary material by post or online learning portal once you book the course with us. Once you book this course, you will be given 12 weeks to complete the assignments and submit the portfolio.

However, if you finish early you will receive your certificate early. You also need to attend 15 minutes Micro-teach session via online Zoom meeting. Your Micro teach session will be observed by your Tutor and other learners on the course. You need to prepare a session plan, PowerPoint presentation, hand-outs for your Micro-teaching session.

Entry Requirements:

There is no formal requirement for this course as long as the candidate has basic functional skills (Numeracy, Literacy and ICT). You will also have to provide us with your Photo Identification such as Passport or Full UK driving Licence to join online or classroom based teacher training Leicester.

Assessment:

There is no formal examination for this course but at the end of the course, you will have to submit the portfolio. The course is assessed by your portfolio and your ability to deliver the Micro-teaching session. Learners will be competing for the following:
• Three written assignments
• One micro-teaching session – If you have enrolled to complete classroom based PTLLS course in Leicester, then you will deliver this session in a classroom setup with group of other learners or it can be submitted as recorded video if you are completing the course online or via distance learning.

What certificate am I going to receive?:

Once you complete the qualification successfully then you will be awarded a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and training certificate.

What careers can I get with this qualification?

Learners who have achieved the Pearson BTEC Level 3 Award in Education and Training can progress to the Pearson BTEC Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or the Pearson BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. Yes, you will get full tutor support, via email and telephone, who will mark your assignments and guide you through the course. 2What will this qualification allow me to do?
This qualification lets you deliver unsupervised lessons/classes in the further education sector. It is the requirement by the government that any trainer/teacher holds a nationally recognised teaching qualification before starting their work. These include reading materials outlining the main concepts for each unit with an interactive presentation that should provide the theoretical knowledge you require.
3Do I need any specific skills to enrol onto this course?
You do not require any prior skills in the subject area to start. However, as with all our courses, we recommend having a basic understanding of the English Language, numeracy, literacy, and ICT.
4How long will it take to complete the course?
The course will take 48 guided learning hours to complete. Though, the total time we require you to spend on this Level 3 award is 120 hours, including research and writing assignments. You can complete the course within weeks or spread it over twelve months, the choice is yours!
5What is included in the cost of my course?
You will receive everything you need to complete this course, including tutor support for the specified duration of your course. All the written learning materials you require to study this course at home will be provided.
6Do I have to give an exam?
No, this course is assessed by your portfolio and ability to deliver the Micro-teaching session.
7How do I submit my assignments?
Learners are expected to write several short assignments for each of the modules within the award. The assignments should include theory and relate to real workplace teaching situations. Once done, the assignments can be submitted easily by just uploading them onto the online learning portal. There is no need to send them by post or email. Your tutor will provide feedback and give you the chance to resubmit assignments if additional work is required.
8When will I receive my qualification?
It would take up to 4 weeks to get the qualification after completing the assignment. However, you will be informed within 48 hours in case you need to resubmit or make any amendments in the assignments.
