Obtaining a CSCS green card is a means of screening both new hires and visitors to make sure they won’t endanger the security of site workers. This card serves as a means of identifying workers who are fully qualified on construction and building sites. One needs to pass the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment touchscreen test to receive a CSCS Green Laborer Card. The card has a £36 application charge.

CSCS Green card: Qualifications required

You need to meet specific requirements and be at least 16 years old in order to apply for a green CSCS Labourer Card. The qualifications for a CSCS green card are as follows:

  • You should have passed the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment test within the last two years and must possess one of the following:

1. An RQF Level 1/SCQF Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment. (This is a lifetime qualification)

2. An SCQF Level 5 REHIS Elementary Health and Safety Certificate.

3. The NOCN/CSkills Awards Construction Health & Safety (F/618/0738) unit.

4. A CSCS-approved alternative qualification, enumerated as follows:

a) CIDORI Introduction to Construction Course

b) Health and Safety Awareness Course

c) Safe2Site

d) DSA 1 Day Health and Safety Awareness Course

e) Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers

f) JTJ Introduction to Construction Course

g) Health and Safety Awareness in Construction

h) NPORS Site Safety Awareness Course

i) SPA – Core Construction Course

j) Principles of Construction Site Health

k) Rushmoor Borough Council Health and Safety in a Construction Environment L1

You might be wondering how to apply for the CSCS after taking the HS&E test. The HS&E test costs £22.50 when scheduled directly with the CITB. In addition to the HS&E test, the CSCS Card itself costs £36 and can be purchased over the phone.

It is advised that you use the CSCS online service to apply for a CSCS card. It’s always available, quick, and simple.

By contacting 0344 99 44 777, you can apply over the phone if you don’t already have an online CSCS account.

How much time will it take for me to receive my CSCS Green card after application?

Your CSCS card will be mailed to you the next working day after your application is approved; online applications are handled more quickly. Please get in touch with CSCS if your card does not come in ten days.

You can use the Employer Application Form to submit an online application for CSCS cards on behalf of your employees if you’re an employer. When creating an account, make sure you check the “Employer” option. Both single and multiple card applications can now be processed. You cannot apply in bulk over the phone; you can only do so online.
