The SIA Refresher Course is a new requirement for renewing an SIA licence. From April 2025, all Door Supervisors and Security Guards must complete this updated training to maintain their licences. This course builds on the foundation of the SIA Top-Up Training introduced in October 2021, incorporating the latest industry practices and legal updates to ensure professionals are fully equipped to handle modern security challenges.
The SIA Top-Up Training and SIA Refresher Training serve similar purposes but reflect changes in industry standards. Top-Up Training, introduced in 2021, updated older qualifications with modules like First Aid, counter-terrorism awareness, and physical intervention. From April 2025, it will be replaced by Refresher Training, which offers a more comprehensive and practical approach, focusing on hands-on skills, updated terror threat awareness, and addressing vulnerabilities like spiking.
