ESOL Skills for Life – English Speaking for other Languages

We at Bright Learning centre offer ESOL courses in Leicester. We provide ESOL Skills for Life qualifications from Pre Entry to Entry Level 3. These qualifications are designed for adults who live, study or work in the UK. The aim of these courses is to give students the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to be able to communicate verbally. This includes engaging in conversations for different purposes and in different contexts, such as in everyday life, in the workplace, and in their place of study. Students will be able to listen and respond, to speak and to engage in discussion and they will be able to pronounce words clearly with appropriate stress and intonation. By the end of each course Learners should be able to understand and communicate in English at relevant Level.

The Door Supervisor Training Course is Suitable for:

This course is suitable for new entrants or other security personnel who would like to widen their skills and be eligible to apply for a SIA Licence to work as a door supervisor within Private Security Industry. Once you have gained this qualification you would be able to work as a Door Supervisor in the UK and your employment chances will increase. Following are some reasons why people choose to do this course:

Study Method:

At Bright Learning centre, this course is delivered by our qualified and experienced tutors. We deliver this course to meet individual’s needs, therefore you can complete this course by the following method:

Classroom-Based Learning:

We deliver this course in classroom based environment only. It is 6 days course including first Aid qualification. Learners must attend all 6 days to gain this qualifcation. 

Assessment:

This course will be assessed by speaking and listening examination. The actual exam will be conducted by an examiner on face to face interview to assess your language skills at relevant Level.

Course content

ESOL Skills for Life (speaking & listening) Entry Level 1:

Bright Learning Centre offers ESOL Skills for Life classes twice a week. The duration of the class is 1.5 hours. In this course you will learn

  • Follow the gist of simple verbal communication
  • Obtain necessary information from simple verbal communication for a given task
  • Follow single step verbal instructions correctly for a given task
  • Use pronunciations to convey intended meaning
  • Use simple language appropriate for context when speaking
  • Provide a short verbal account for a given task
  • Convey relevant detail/s during a simple verbal communication
  • Make relevant contributions to discussions
  • Express simple views clearly during verbal communication
  • Make effective verbal requests to obtain information

This course is a stand-alone award; therefore, students would not be required to study anything else alongside of it.

ESOL Skills for Life (speaking & listening) Entry Level 2:

Bright Learning Centre offers ESOL Skills for Life, classes twice a week. The duration of the class is 1.5 hours. In this course you will learn:

  • Follow the gist of verbal communication
  • Obtain necessary information from straightforward verbal communication for a given task
  • Follow straightforward verbal instructions correctly for a given task
  • Use pronunciation to convey intended meaning
  • Use straightforward language appropriate for context when speaking
  • Provide relevant information to others during straightforward verbal communication
  • Provide a verbal account for a given task
  • Make appropriate contributions to discussion
  • Express views clearly during verbal communication
  • Obtain specific information from others

ESOL Skills for Life (speaking & listening) Entry Level 3:

Bright Learning Centre offers ESOL Skills for life, classes twice a week. The duration of the class is 1.5 hours. In this course you will learn:

  • Follow the gist of straightforward verbal communication
  • Obtain relevant detail from straightforward verbal communication
  • Follow straightforward verbal instructions correctly for a given purpose
  • Use clear pronunciation to convey intended meaning
  • Use appropriate language in context according to formality
  • Present information using an appropriate structure for a given purpose
  • Provide a verbal account of relevant information for a given audience
  • Convey relevant detail during verbal communication
  • Contribute constructively to discussion on straightforward topics
  • Express views constructively during verbal communication on straightforward topics
  • Plan action with others for a given task
  • Obtain relevant information from others

Entry Requirements:

You will need to do an Initial assessment and interview before we can decide which course level is suitable for you. There is no formal requirements to join our ESOL course. To register on to the course, you will need to submit your passport or driving licence along with proof of address.

What certificate am I going to receive?

Successful candidates will receive a Level 2 Award in Door Supervision certificate from an awarding body within England and Wales who are currently recognised by Ofqual and Department for Education and Skills.

FAQ

To get a front-line licence, you will need to do the Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry. To obtain this qualification, you will need to complete 4 training modules and pass the exams. As per the latest SIA Update, Door supervision training must be delivered over a minimum of 6 days. In addition to this, you must also have a first aid qualification before you can take the training.
