Functional Skills Level 1/2 Maths Course (Classroom or Online)

The purpose of the Functional Skills Maths Level 1/2 qualification is to prepare the learner for work, study, and life. Learners who achieve this qualification will demonstrate the ability to calculate with fractions, decimals and percentages, how to create tables and charts, how to use metric measurement and how to work out averages, amongst other things. Learners will be able to apply these skills effectively to a range of purposes in the workplace and in real life situations.

If you left school some time ago, it’s too late to get your vital GCSE qualifications with us. We offer English and maths functional skills at level 1 and 2. Our functional skills qualifications are nationally recognised and are equivalent to GCSE Level.

Level 1 qualification is equivalent to GCSE grade D-G.
Level 2 qualification is equivalent to GCSE grade A*-C.

This course is recommended for learners who are aiming to meet university entry requirements for GCSE or are preparing to apply for the Access course. This is flexible course which is suitable to meet learner’s needs. This qualification is nationally recognised by colleges, universities, and employers as an equivalent to GCSE.

Study Method:

At Bright Learning centre, this course is delivered by our qualified and experienced tutors. We deliver this course to meet individual’s needs, therefore you can complete this course by the following methods:

• Classroom-Based Learning
• Distance-based Learning/Online Learning

Classroom-Based Learning:

We offer classroom-based Functional skills English course in Leicester. The course is delivered over 2 hours per week. The classes are held at all our branches. We offer daytime, evenings, and weekends classes. The Classroom-based training will include sessions by a qualified and experienced tutor. Once you complete your training and ready to sit in your exam. We will book your final exam.

Distance/Online Learning:

The distance learning course is completed at your own pace with a Tutor’s Support & Guidance. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor throughout the course, as and when appropriate. We will provide you with all the necessary material by post or online learning portal once you book the course with us. Once you book this course, you will be given 12 weeks to complete your course. Once you are ready for the exam please inform us on inf@brightlearningcentre.co.uk

Note: please make sure you book your exam within the 3 months’ time otherwise you won’t be able to take the exam.

Assessment:

Once you feel competent at the level you wish to gain, you will be required to take an invigilated exam. This can be done on the date of your choice from home/online or in our centre. Please note: You must book the exam/s within 3-months of purchase otherwise you will not be allowed to take the exam. If in the unfortunate event you are not successful in the exam, you will need to purchase the course package again.

Entry Requirements:

There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, candidates should already have a good understanding of this subject, ideally no less than one level below the level they wish to take. If you are taking this course online, candidates should already have a good understanding of IT. You will be required to complete an assessment in order to find out your level and identify the most appropriate level for you to start with.

Once you pass your exam, you will receive nationally recognised Maths qualification.

How long is the Course?

Even though we offer 3 months for you to complete the Functional skills course, but it all depends on you how quickly you get ready for the final exam. You can complete this qualification on your own pace. Once you feel competent to take exam, we will book it for you.
